Spam and Porn an other Childish Behavior

Dear all,

Occasionally, a spammer gets through the security on our forum and posts ads for really important products like Viagra and Pomegranate Juice and information on How To Grow a Big Penis so Nobody Knows How Little your Brain Is. You know, topics the likes of which teen-agers are obsessively focused. Until THEY grow up, that is.

I apologize for the rude behavior of fly-by-night spammers and juvenile retards and no-brain ding-dongs worried about the size of their dong and the sadistic 'ding' they get from shocked forum members. The minute I discover those messages, they are deleted and the poster is banned so he-or-she cannot post messages from that ISP address.

I will do my best to upgrade to higher security that will hopefully, prevent spammers from joining and posting such ridiculous messages. This is a problem all forums have to deal with...so far, we've had very few spammers post messages and all of them have been on this particular board. If you do not recognize the name or suspect the message is 'spam/porn', please do NOT read the message or view the images. Just send me an email or post a message on the General Board alerting managers to the post.

Ummm...yea, I pay the costs of this forum. As long as we don't have five million posters, it's affordable. ha!

It will not cost anything to upgrade the security. I suppose it would if I had to hire a technical expert but since my son is a professional computer programmer, the labor is FREE. Well, not free I suppose. It cost a lot to raise the kid. LOL

Sorry, being new and all, I looked for a "spam" button to push and alert admin, but didn't find it. Some forums have a place to click on to report posts as spam, but I didn't want to keep opening the thread, lest everyone here begin to think of me as the "preverted" new kid. LOL

Seriously tho, thanks for responding so quickly. It's nice to know it doesn't happen often here, and thanks for letting us know who to contact in the future.

That Cornfield, eh? She's always encouraging me to write a book but basically, my book is scattered all across the web already. ha!

Besides, people don't wanna pay money for a tale that ends badly. They like 'happy' endings where the errant husband realizes what a 'gem' he left behind and dumps the 'other woman' after realizing his fling was nothing more than a Fatal Attraction and his one true love, the one who made him cinnamon rolls with brown sugar on the side is his true love. And he'd never hurt his true love ever again because now, he gets therapy two times a week and takes his Prozac faithfully in the morning along with his Metamucil tablets and the best thing of all? He refused to fill his prescription for viagra because he suddenly realized that sex was a miserable substitute for true intimacy and emotional bonding and gosh gee willikers! What a fool he had been to respond like a programmed robot to the millions upon millions of advertisements he'd been subjected to on TV. Now that his head was securely fitted to his shoulders again, he realized the good heart of the nice girl who loved her man through thick and thin and never wavered, not for one single second, in her belief in him as a good and trustworthy man. Such love as ours can never be repeated. Only admired. From afar. Like a black hole.

Back to the topic at hand before y'all get so titillated you can't stick to No Contact:

My son tells me that people are paid to join message boards all day (and blogs or websites) so they can post advertisements for Pomegranate Juice. Companies actually pay folks to do that and amazing as it is, some folks are willing to take the job. There isn't much we can do to prevent someone from joining WoN and activating their account from an email address and then posting their cruddy crud. I am now getting an email each time someone joins the forum so I can keep better watch on these low-lifes.

But please, alert managers to ANY porn or spam showing up on WoN. We've never had anything quite like the images posted today and I'm so sorry for anyone who was 'triggered' by such filth.

Thank you, Phoenixxx, for offering to contribute to WoN. The most valuable thing people can do to further our efforts to reach people, is to share their lives with each other. To restore one another's faith and trust in their fellow human beings and themselves. I appreciate each and every person who has kept WoN going since 2005. 

In the event our group grows astonomically and there are more messages posted than we can keep up with, then maybe financial donations would be in order. Until that happens, please view this forum as a way for me to GIVE BACK to the generous and kind souls who held me up when I didn't believe my life was worth the effort. I believe in message boards because they saved my life and I honestly believe they have encouraged me to be a better person than I'd have been otherwise. I sincerely mean that.
