Illusions are so silly!

A group of scholars, scientists, and psychologists are sounding alarm bells that pornography is more harmful to society than people think.

Litha,

Thanks for the informative link. The stats are amazing, which show how much pornography is being viewed. What is most disturbing to me, which the clip reported, "It is not your father's pornography:....violence, extreme fetishes and mutual degradation rather than fun."  Years back this was mainly eye candy for narcissists' perversion cause they really can't function normally.  Now it seems this is becoming normalized and more people, especially the younger
generation, are imitating what is deplicted in this porn. Rather than being shocked or repulsed by certain acts, many of the younger folks will just laugh about it.  Maybe the laughter is their way of dealing with it at some level?

Years ago, I tried to understand and be open-minded about this sexual junk food. What there is to understand is that it is only about stimulation for mainly narcissists and lost souls, which often results in women becoming the traumatized victims.

I wish I knew what the solution could be other than censorship.  Too many questions arise from censorship:  Who does the censoring?  What will be censored next?

I understand what you mean about censorship. Freedom of speech is important.

I support a charity called The Pink Cross. The woman who started it, Shelley Lubben, used to be a porn star, but left the business, cleaned up her life, and now runs this ministry to women in the sex industry. While she would rather no one participated in porn at all, she understands the importance of free speech.

Her approach is that actors/actresses who appear in porn need to be protected by the same OSHA standards that the rest of us enjoy. Nurses and doctors wear protective gloves, masks, safety glasses, etc to protect them from body fluids that might be infectious, but porn stars are exposed to every kind of body fluid with no protection at all. Consequently, STDs run rampant through this industry.

That doesn't sound like much, but it is a reasonable and defensible stand and would actually cut down on on the worst kinds of porn. At least it's a start.
