Staying Logged-in Forever? Hey, I need my sleep!
« on: January 21, 2009, 01:05:08 PM »
=welcome=

Each time you visit the WoN forum, a screen prompt will ask how long you'd like to stay logged-in. You can set your time at one hour, six hours, thirty minutes or FOREVER. But no, you aren't expected to roam the WoN forum for the rest of your born days. We're busy people after all. We have places to go and people to see and animals to feed in our off-time.

What the screen prompt is suggesting is that you won't be required to log-in each time you visit WoN. Your personal computer will set a 'cookie' remembering your password and allowing you to rejoin the forum without logging back in each time.

The forever-setting is a handy feature but ONLY if your computer is safe.

If you're sharing a home computer, or if you're using a computer at work, I'd advise logging-out each time you leave WoN. Imagine the consequences of your boss hopping on your computer and ending up in a big barn with all us chickens.

=woman no=

If you have a computer addiction and would like some help monitoring your time, set a time frame that keeps your life manageable. Let your computer keep you on track. But fair warning: if you set your time for one hour, your message will NOT be posted when your time is up. In fact, your message is lost entirely and cannot be retrieved.

You can of course, select "Stay logged in" and then log-out whenever you choose.

Hugs all,
CZBZ

Actually my question is about how the posts come up on my screen. It seems like I am seeing them last to first, and I would like to see them first to last like the old site. How can I change this?

Go into My Profile

In Modify Profile on the left side of the screen, click on Layout and Preferences.

There are numerous options to choose from. Just try and few. You can always reset your preferences again!

I have reset everyone's preferences so that you'll see the oldest posts first. New messages will be added to the bottom of the thread just like it was on MSN.

If you want to see new messages FIRST, you can change your settings by clicking on My Profile > Modify profile > Look and Layout Preferences

I have actually spent some time reading about the website - I have to be honest, I do not log out because I do not remember my password - how do I get help with that? Also - I was trying to find out what the stars under the "names" mean -

Hi smp. :) if you have saved the e-mail you received when registering at WoN, it should have all your login info. Save it to a folder in your mail where you know you can find it, and you'll never forget again. Or, if you no longer have the e-mail, send yourself an e-mail with the password. Either way, your password will be stored in a safe place where no one else can find it, especially if you share a computer.

And the stars under the usernames relate to the number of posts you have.

Hope this helped!
