May,

Moi aussi.

Last night, talking w/d on the phone, I slipped for the first time and referred to XNH as Genius Boy for creating a travel schedule where she'll have zero days for back-to-school supplies or clothing shopping -- and she referred to relying on me for those essentials.

We both had a good chuckle.

since he's a Ph.D, I used to call him Dr. Nasty, but then as I realized that not only was he nasty, he was was really EVIL, IMO and so I switched to Lucifer. But maybe Beelzebub would be better because Lucifer *was* an Angel of light, right? An he was never that. However he got the way he is, I will never know for sure. Am still trying to decide it it's nature or nurture or perhaps a combination. It doesn't matter..it's not like poop where there is good poop and bad poop.

D calls him Voldemort, Voldy, and when I called him Malfoy, she said that was too nice.  (These are Harry Potter evil archetypes).  I have called him Little Lord Fauntleroy in the past, since that's how his N mother treats him.

A girlfriend at work nicknamed my ex OJ - "old Jim"  I use this one.  My fiancé calls his N-ex 'the demon' but I call her 'humpty-dumpty' because she's shaped like an egg.  We were joking that we needed to turn her into a faberge egg to marry her off to the OM.  We now use the humpty nickname because it takes away her power.

I recall sitting through several Harry Potters where Voldemort figured prominently, and describing for d the first time exactly what his name, Malfoy and some of the other names, really meant.  She'd had no idea.  Our conversation drifted toward evil characters, PDs ....  It was an unexpected educational moment.

Did you study Latin, to be able to know the meanings?  I had to look them up, once a friend told me the meaning of Malfoy.

XH=The Donald

XBF=he was freakshow, then I decided that was too lofty...now he's numbskull.  Another woman he was involved with calls him Dr. D*ckhead (he is an M.D.)

I've studied German and French, and Latin roots.

Voldemort:  Vol = Full
                 de = of
                 Mort = Death

Malfoy:  Mal = Bad/evil/morally wrong/in pain/sorrow
            Foy ==>  Foi ==>  Fois = "occasion/time" in French *OR* Froid (from pronunciation) = "Cold" in French
            ==> lifeless/unfeeling
            (Interestingly, a Web search for "foi" also brings "Friends of Israel" with reference to Biblical studies,
            the Davidic Covenant *and* "called to be living sacrifice" ... which was what Malfoy was forced to do
            ....)

I love the name meanings,Wings, and am also wondering why Snape had to be the tragic figure he was.  Is it the betrayal of being a Deatheater, and then coming back to the right side, that made him have to die?  I saw 2 of the movies with a friend who studies mythology, and in the very first film, she said about Snape, that he was going to die as a sacrifice.  I wondered which myth she had studied, and which archetype he was modeled on, that let her know that so early on in the series.

We always have so much to talk about that I never think to ask her.
