In defense of know-it-alls, know-a-lots, and understand-a-lots, if you become an enthusiastic teacher, it goes with the job. In my case, it took years for me to learn that I may not be the best teacher for everyone, and that some people don't want to learn what I desire to teach them. LOL
I am in favor of learning from experienced-a-lot kind of people, especially those who have learned from their mistakes. Good students and good teachers, for that matter, can change their views, and really differentiate between opinions and facts which can be validated. Having a "math mind", I have always been interested in the facts, so one of my friends calls me an "encyclopedia" kind of person. That is different from being a know-it-all.
I am aware that many of our views are not necessarily factual, and I wince when someone on the board innocently puts out information which is not really accurate. I am learning to let it go, however, in the interest of bonding so we can heal well as we travel our life's experiences. My silence is not a sign that I agree, sometimes. It is a sign that I respect where you are in your life, and I trust your search continues. Eventually, we will get there and find the peace of mind we all seek, some faster than others. It is not a race. And I gave up competition long ago.
