Sorry to interupt the cattys..but I am wondering if anyone has any ideas for me on this...

My house has the most HORRENDOUS colours on the walls. It was clearly painted by somebody with terminal colourblindness.

(Please excuse the fact that Brits can`t spell color...I can try...but I won`t remember)

The worst one is a very dark red. It`s not even a classic sort of burgundy...or cranberry or something. It`s just red...and dark...and depressing...and all the way up my stairs from the front door. It feels very like a medieval dungeon....and therefore not entirely uplifting.

I have done a trial on a little bit....and it is taking at least FOUR coats to cover it even vaguely convincingly.

Other than using the beautiful fluffy cats as rollers  ....sorry  ...couldn`t resist....any magic solutions? Pleeeeeease!!!!!!!

Jenny - just passing through on my way to bed!  You'll need to apply a coat of primer/undercoat over the top of the red paint - this will seal it off and stop it showing through.  Then two coats of your chosen colour.  Without the undercoat, you may get traces of red showing through even after four or more coats!

Do they have "Killz" across the pond?  It's my favorite primer, one coat often "kills" whatever fugly colour (there ya' go!) you're trying to get rid of.

I googled "Killz" and it looks like just the job. Though their brand is not sold in the UK....(on googling "Killz" for UK pages only....I found a 17 year old Rap Artist from Nottingham. I`m not sure he would be up for decorating my walls though. And if he did...it would most likely be in haemoglobin related substances....and more or less the same colour that I started with.)

But when I nip to B&Q (Our version of Home Depot)....I know what I`m looking for now.

My walls are indeed MOST Fugly. And that is a most excellent word the US has contributed. Word immigration is a two way thing. It`s great isn`t it.

Omigosh! It's snowing here again.those same big, fat delicious flakes that we had on Christmas Eve! It's very foggy and grey (my favorite kind of day) so you can see the flakes are they drift down and actually see their pattern. They really LOOK like snowflakes in a book! Soooooo beautiful, though the ground is warm and they are melting when they hit the pavement. I can't stand it. I think this calls for hot chocolate and maybe I can gear myself up to finish all those new year's cards I made two weeks ago.

Two snows in one year! How lucky is that....and not the nasty, sleety, icy snows we usually get. This one looks painted already...........so pretty!

Hey, Legs, give me back my winter!  I think we sent it all on to you this year, as I sit here watching the dripping of my eaves and see the measly 2 inches of snow left.

Not that I'm complaining when I see that my heating-fuel tank is still half-full in January, which NEVER happens!

Winter in Uk  is a lot milder than last year .Not much snow at all ,yes alatariel its  a good thing about the heating .
I have gas central heating ,and also a fire to keep up with coal  and logs .
Had the damn chimney swept but cant light it this month so far as its been soooooo windy gales ,and the chimney has a big down draught when its gales we get covered in soot and smoke .

Been like this since just before xmas windy .Cant complain too much though as its warmer than usual .I think we will suffer in February for this warmer weather .         
Was full moon last night the loonys will be worse than ever .

Rosemary...I still have honeysuckle that is TRYING TO FLOWER!!! And tender geraniums still growing away. This time last year we were knee deep in snow and ice.

Baby grandson ill D thinks hes got croup .told her to hold him in the steamy bathroom for a while .shes got him a docs appt tomorrow morn very early stupid oclock she says .
Younger son said in txt hes bought a new suit in sale for teaching in .Hesonlygot a dress suit for may balls /or odd jackets and trousers  .Most of his stuff is for climbing in all scruffy outdoors wear.

I think Imogene and I are the only TX gals now that TexasGal split....I surely do wonder sometimes about people....why they stop posting. I always hope the found a great job, moved away and don't "need" us anymore...

Im in the North of England Legs ,Jenny is in the south  in Oxford a university town
I live in yorkshire .
Texas sounds fun and hot unlike here cold and damp.

Texas has all kinds of land...I'm up on a big flat plateau about 3,000 feet above sea level,,,,the Gulf Coast is beautiful sandy beaches and shrimp boats...the west is a desert  the east id pine woods..the central part os what we call the Hill Country..very lush but lots of bugs.

I loved Yorkshire if it's what I remember...we drove all the way up from where we landed on the coast at Dover all the way up one side of the country to John o'Groats and then back down the other coast...spent about a month there altogether...if I remember, Yorkshire was right before we got to Scotland. What beautiful country...My Father's people came from Lincolnshire and my Mother's from Caithness, but that was long ago and the Scottish people apparently got sent here for stealing sheep! But I've got people here since before the revolutionary War and am mixed all together with German blood and American Indian and who knows what....a true American mutt.

If I could live anywhere at all in the whole world, I would live somewhere on a rocky place where the sea comes in rough and loud, but I am up high and can hear it and smell it but not be afraid of it. I love the sound of the sea more than anything..even the smooth California ocean rolling in over the pebbles sounds good to me. I used to think I might end up on a seacoast somewhere, but now I think I'm too old to leave the southwest. That's all I've ever known.



legs, who thinks next we should take pictures of our houses either inside or out so we can imagine where people live..........I have Jenny in a rose covered thatched cottage and you in a Victorian red brick house with a tiny front yard and a big back garden.....


The OZ girls all live on ranches and have kangaroos in their fields..and rabbits. Oh, wait.....they put up a rabbit fence and killed them, right? They poisoned all our big fine fat jackrabbits here and the prairie dogs too because they dig holes and the cows are so stupid they walk right into the holes and break their stupid cow legs.

You Texans live on big ranches, with oil wells in your backyards, and JR Ewing lives just over the hill.  right?   And we NYers live in skyscrapers and are terrified to leave our apartments b/c of all the crime.  Those Brits live in flats in London, and eat fish-n-chips at every meal.  Those in OZ have kangas, koalas and billabongs in their yards, and throw shrimp on the barbie every night.

Legs i live in a victorian terrace house the front door is straight onto the pavement and street the back yard is a yard not a garden ,just a paved yard .But ive put in astone wall with soil inside it to make a small garden with rosebush /variegated ivy /leyllandii tree and lots of herbs and bulbs .lots of tubs and pots with plants in .this is allwalled and fenced in and the house is built of yorkshire stone .

i want to give you a laugh ,last night i got a txt from  someone they must have tapped in wrong number LOL .

LOL Alatariel and Legs , i havent got any pics on this phone as its one my daughter gave me sos the NH doesnt pester me  .
all my pics are on pc or old phone .Think it would be quite hard to take a pic of your own bum without a mirror .

the N bum pics are on pc  ,ive deleted all on my old phone of him  ,also on other sites i belong to ive wiped him off
