OK, just one more post, and I promise I'll drop this thread.  I just want to be prepared for eventualities, and I just thought of one tonight...

If the troll's daughter is playing at my neighbor's house, and calls the troll for a ride home, what if the troll is "busy" or "something comes up" and she tells her daughter to walk over here and ask me for a ride!  The troll lives 1.5 miles away, so it's not like I could tell a third-grader to walk home, especially after dark.  But I can so totally picture her using her own child like that, as a way to exert some sort of control over me, or worm her way back into my life.

So, what should I do if the situation arises?

The polite but firm way to deal with that situation would be to walk with the girl back over to the neighbors house and explain that you are working at home today and are unable to give the girl a ride home. Do go with her or the polite message may not get delivered.

OK, thank you.  I think you're right, if she was playing at the neighbor's house, it's the neighbor's problem to get her back home.
