I think you may find the Caring has tainted everything you touch for life Pearls. Like garlic infuses itself into oil. And there will be many who are silently addicted to your caring. And who would miss their fix and be in a bad way without it.

Today....I have an excess of confusion pouring unsolicited from it`s overflowing bottle...and mingling with a creeping plague of self-doubt. So much so...that all my other bottles have gone missing entirely!

Usually I have a self-filling bottle of mischief in my hip pocket....and an intravenous drip of seeing the ridiculous in everything.

Ah yes......confusion and self doubt.  They go together like peanut butter and jelly.

It's funny.  It's so obvious to all of us here that you are not disordered in the slightest.  But those creeping doubts.........I am pretty sure I do not qualify for any of the personality disorders, although I am sure I have some of those traits.  As Imogene said, it's hard to be raised in an NFOO and not have some abandonment issues, for a start.  I have been depressed, and I have some anxiety issues, and I have ADHD.  So I have psychiatric diagnoses aplenty.  But my xnh did his very best to make my introversion a pathology.  And I have gotten very angry at xnh at times, and he found that to be abnormal as well.

Chime,

This prayer (if you pray) has helped me to deal with X and NW on more than one occasion.

PRAYER TO
SAINT MICHAEL
THE ARCHANGEL
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..

I am Catholic and St. Micheal the Archangel is the patron saint of those who protect us.  I seek his protection ALOT!

Hugs,

RB

I have a half-empty glass of "low self-esteem", it looks like a greenish-black, oily substance, that clings to everything and fouls it all up.

"Sarcasm" is a bright, fluorescent orange; b/c just like deer can't see the "safety orange" hunters wear, stupid ppl can't see sarcasm.

"Lazy-butt" is white and fluffy and looks like frosting, but is really made of pure lard.

"Confusion" is rainbowy, like an oil-slick, it looks pretty but it's an illusion.

"Self-confidence" is a bright, eye-watering blue, like the color of some metal roofs.  You can't miss it.

pearls, I have been meaning to ask you what medicine you take for your inattentive ADD? THat was you, right?? My eldest D has inattentive ADD, along with other nasty symptoms associated with her mild Tourrettes. She has pulled herself through mostly by her intelligence, but High School is harder, she is worse, etc. I would appreciate hearing more about your ADHD. Sorry for the major huge hijack, Chime......... but I would really love to help her.

Hi Julia,
Yep, that was me.

I have been on Strattera for years now--ever since it first came on the market and have done very well with it.  My doctor says he has had few patients respond as well as I have.  I had been on Ritalin for years before that.  It worked well enough, but I had to keep increasing the dose, and I had to take it several times a day, and of course because it was a controlled drug it was not convenient.  I was also very conscious with the Ritalin of the levels going up and down all day.  I got used to it, but I had to plan around it, and carry pills with me and whatnot.

The Strattera does not help me focus quite as well as the Ritalin, but I don't have that roller coaster feeling all day long.  I have to work a little harder to stay on task with something very tedious.  But it's a better choice for me overall.

Both of my kids were also diagnosed with ADHD.  They both had considerable difficulty with school and both were on stimulant meds.  Fortunately, both of them seem to be among the lucky ones who 'outgrow" their ADHD.  My son hated Strattera which we tried for a while when he was in high school.  He said it did nothing for him but make him sleepy.

Hope this helps.
