goofy boss
« on: February 23, 2012, 12:20:46 AM »
I can not believe it, but my boss put a memo in everyone's mailbox last night -- after I had left - letting us know all of us - the entire staff - will have new teaching assignments next year. This is nuts! And... she is gone for three days to a conference! Coward! =rofl2=
Now - bring me that horizon

(Switching to SEVERE IRONY MODE....)

Oh yes. That will be productive. All that effort so you can all play musical chairs with your jobs. All that energy channeled into something which will reap such enormous benefits. Tearing everything down and starting again. Why don`t you suggest you all knock the building down with a teaspoon while you`re at it....and rebuild brick by brick using only your teeth. That would be more productive.

Or alternatively she could just not be such a complete mindless twonk.

hahaha - I sent her an email stating the upset of the staff and could we sit down to talk about this. She sent an email to the entire staff stating she was not willing to have a "staff meeting" about this because it is her decision alone to make - but she would be "happy" to speak with us individually  - we just need to set up an appointment with her administrative assistant! =rofl2=

sounds like my principal.

She was feeling very threatened by the staff, so she moved almost everyone around last year, rooms here and there.

Good for keeping people off balance.

It has been an interesting month at work, to say the least. Turns out, she (the goofy principal) was "coercing" parents to file official district complaints on me after a surprise meeting with the superintendent, requested by the union. I have been formally notified that "action" has been taken, but since it is a personnel issue, it is none of my business! All district complaints have either been rescinded or judged to be settled. One stated that since all issues were addressed prior to the complaint being filed, the parents have no reason to complain!

Then Thursday night I got a call from the union - there is a position in sixth grade open at a site for next year really close to my house, and with a dynamic, professional staff, and principal, would I consider it? I asked if I could think about it, hoping the principal would move or GROW UP. I had a meeting with her, and another aggressive parent Friday morning. Turns out, I am just too mean to her grandson. I went back to my room and emailed the union - yes, please move me!

I can not tell you how relieved I am - I will be away from the religious right (no offense, but it is not to be in public schools) away from immature twits and control freaks!

As for the religious right - we were not allowed ( actually, many members of the staff rejected it) to have a "Pirate Day" in our spirit week a number of years ago because of a boycott against Disney for giving gay domestic partners health insurance on an employees' benefits! This was when the first  Pirate movie came out and the kids were all excited about it. I do wear my Flying Spaghetti Monster pin almost daily now! That and I have my ACLU member card taped to my staff mailbox!

I had decided to think about moving because I do not feel I should have to move when she is not doing her job -  like she won. But when I really think about it - my ego was there. I was losing being there, and, most importantly, the kids were losing. I want to be able to teach, be supported in the classroom. I get no support at that site. I would have to do first grade there next year - and I am an upper grade teacher, sixth being my favorite. I actually get to work with other teachers next year - way too many positives to the move, that I really feel like this was presented to protect me. From the superintendent, no less. =clover=

Yay SMP!!!!

That is soooooo awesome.  It's a win-win situation, except for the id-i-OTT principal who has no idea who or what she just lost, namely a consciousness teacher who puts the needs of the students ahead of her personal agenda.

Kudos to you!

How do you spell 'conscientious"? (not consciousness in my previous post, although I'm sure that could used in SOME capacity!)

I so understand your battle, smp. Sometimes we 'cut our own nose off' to spite our face. "I'll show YOU! You're not gonna WIN! Even if I hate it here! Even if I get heartburn all day and people throw stones at me during lunch hour. I am NOT moving!"

ha!! You caught yourself, though. I figure you and i and other people on this board have done our time PROVING how tough we are. Do something nice for yourself...you have nothing whatsoever to prove. I'd see this as a real Godsend.  =msn wink= A true blessing.  =msn tongue=

Hooray! Yahoo! Yeehaw!!!!!!

Even if you move, you still win. I was going to leave this stupid jerkwater town just to get away from lucifer and all the ad memories, but I have lived here for 45 years, know it like the back of my hand, have all my docs here and a handful of friends so why should *I* leave to get rid of him.  HE can leave and go back to his home country or to Hell for al I care. I am not having to learn a whole new town at my age because of that turd.

Flying spaghetti monster......haven't thought of that in YEARS! Made me laugh to think about there being a PIN! Do you like the sixth graders? I had the loveliest six grade teacher..she was one of the few teachers I remember. She was so kind to me and valued me. I had three teachers in my whole school career that really made a difference. I bet you are a teacher like that......plus you have all that juicy salacious gossip about Pigface to float all around you and give you a mysterious aura like a witch's cloak.

I'm sure heads will turn when you go down the hall. I imagine you to look like my tenth grade science teacher....Miss Louden. She was very trim and almost had a 50's coed look, but she wasn't much older than us, I don't think. She got married my senior year and Paul Bullock and I went to her wedding. She wore a lovely candlelight satin gown with about a million tiny covered buttons that ran al down the back to the end of her tailbone. It was fitted, but drop waisted. I can remember that wedding like it was my own. Her husband turned out to be a complete ass and she was a single mom, but her daughter ended up at Julliard, so that was something to go from a little dusty west Texas town to that!

Anyway, when I think of you, I always picture her so in my mind you are forever young!

Glad to hear things are finally working out for you!
xoxo, Legs

smp,
I totally get what you mean about not leaving because you think the exN might win if you left.  I think that's why I went back to grad school so I can eventually leave my place of work.  It will be on my terms though, a well thought-out decision, independent of whether he stays or goes.  (I think he's not going anywhere.  He would have left already if anyone would have had him, but alas, his reputation precedes him).

Legs, I totally get what you wrote about staying, because if you left, Lucifer wins.  You've been there a long time.  He SHOULD be the one to leave.  On the other hand, the longer he sticks around, the more opportunity you'll have to kick his butt to the curb from a distance.  Hehehe.....or at least watch what happens when others finally figure out what you've known for a very long time.

I think in the end, we have to figure out whether to stay or go based on OUR needs, not what we think the exN might think, ya know?  I finally got tired of trying to live inside his head, even to just speculate on what he MIGHT be thinking.  It was dark, illogical, and irrational, with lots of twisted, narrow hallways, and no light at the end of the tunnel.

I did get my "official" offer to change positions next year, and yes, I accepted it. But... I am being told I can tell NO ONE until it is announced through the district office??!! So, naturally I asked when that would be and was told the last day of the school year! WTF? So now, I am moving but have to pretend I am not going anywhere for another month?  =donkey=

First, congratulations on the move, smp! The new school is lucky to get a teacher who cares so much.

And what a pain that you have to keep it secret. Why?? What would happen if you didn't?
